This is the poster and banner art I designed for Industry Giants 2020 in Dallas, TX. Industry Giants is the premiere Texas animation, game development, and computer graphics event produced by non-profit organization, A Bunch of Short Guys. I'll be doing a free online talk with A.B.O.S.G. on Saturday, November 7 about the process of creating this piece and answering any questions you guys have!

Also, you can buy the shirt from the organization to show your support!

I got really inspired by pulpy sci-fi novel covers from the 40s-60s and modeled the poster design around that. The comic book cover and record sleeve were done for fun. The eye logo at the top right and a couple other vector assets, as well as the typeface selection, was done by my good friend Dermot Jiang, a designer at RIOT. Check out his work, he's amazing!

At the time that I was designing this poster, I had just begun a mentorship program with Devin Korwin. The experience taught me a ton to be a better painter by utilizing better knowledge of light and color used by plein air painters. By the end it dramatically leveled up my own skills. Working with Devin really helped make this design what it is now. There's also a submission in my portfolio of where I designed out the mechs that in this image, andt he mentored me through that as well. Devin is an incredible painter and designer, as well as a 3D wizard. I can't recommend his mentorship program and literature enough!

I'm extremely grateful to everyone over at A.B.O.S.G. for entrusting me with this opportunity, and want to thank everyone who works so hard to put it on every year. This poster was designed for the 2020 convention at the start of the year, though unfortunately, that convention was postponed due to COVID. However, this design will carry over and be used for the 2021 convention. As such, the names of the attendees were taken from the Industry Giants 2019 poster.

Thanks for looking, I hope you like it!
